Online Minesweeper: how does it work?

Minesweeper is a classic logic game where you use clues to locate the hidden mines in the grid.
Play Minesweeper online directly in your browser, with no installation or account needed.

Left-click: open a square to see what is underneath.
Right-click: place a flag on a square you think contains a mine.

Each opened square with a number tells you how many mines are in the neighbouring squares (horizontal, vertical and diagonal).
By combining these hints, you can work out which squares are safe and which ones hide a mine.

If you click on a mine, the game is lost.

The counter in the top left shows how many mines are left to find.
The counter in the top right is a timer: perfect for trying to beat your best time.

You can play with several difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Expert for the densest grids.
As a bonus, more levels are available on the More page, which you unlock by finishing the previous levels.
